Griffin is Nine Months Old!

Our little Wildcat hit the nine month mark on Friday!  He's officially been "out" longer than he was "in" haha!  Griffin was decked out in UK blue and ready to cheer on the Cats as they took on a great Indiana team Friday night.  It was an exciting game, but after pulling off a 102-90 win over the Hoosiers, he made sure they knew to...
Bow to the Baby Brow!

After Friday's win, the Cats advanced on to play Baylor in the Elite Eight.  We pulled off an 82-70 win today, and secured a spot in the Final Four where we'll be playing the other team from Kentucky...the Louisville Cardinals, on Saturday.
It's fitting that we're in the midst of March Madness, because that's exactly what this month has been!  Griffin has kept us on our toes with his supersonic crawling skills.  He's been exploring everything, and is quickly learning that there are more things around the house besides his toys to "play with".  Needless to say, baby-proofing is in full force!  He's turning into quite the dare devil these days, too.  Not only is he pulling up on things and cruising, but he likes to let go and reach for things until he realizes he's on his own and changes his mind!  We're just waiting on him to take that first step... (eeeek!)
No new teeth this month, but boy does it seem like we're working on some!  We've had some pretty rough and whiny days lately...poor guy :(  He's putting the two chompers he's got to good use now, with his new favorite snack...Cheerios!
He amazes us daily with new little things he learns.  He loves giving "high fives" now, and is becoming quite the little copy cat...even whistling (squealing) back when you whistle at him!  We're also having fun teaching him how to listen to directions.  It's so neat when we say something like, "Go get your green ball," and he crawls right over and grabs it!
We go see Dr. Badger in a couple of weeks for his nine month check up.  He'll be getting another round of shots, which are never fun...but I can't wait to see how much he's grown!

Daffodils

I love this time of year!  Thanks to the sunshine and warm weather, flowers are blooming everywhere.. and this morning as I opened the blinds and looked out at our back yard, I was excited to see a new burst of color against the fence line.  Bright yellow daffodils...straight from my Mammaw Henry's back yard :)  I planted them after she passed away, and look forward to seeing them bloom each year when Spring comes around.

I couldn't wait to take Griffin outside and let him explore... and I snapped a few pictures of him checking out Mammaw's daffodils for the first time.  What I would give for her to still be around and watch my little man grow up.  She would've loved Griffin, and I sure wish he could've met her.

Finally...some snow!!

Our beautiful drive this morning :)
Just when I was beginning to think we would make it an entire season without snow, mother nature threw another curve ball into the crazy winter/spring mix we've had.  Just days ago, it was sunny and almost 70 degrees...and we were hanging out at the golf course for the first time this year.  Then, this morning we woke up to almost 6 inches of this mysterious white stuff falling from the sky!

I have to admit that I was a little excited to see the accumulation... especially since Griffin has never really experienced a good snow.  Of course, I was scheduled to work today, so we couldn't take full advantage of the snow day...but we snapped a few pictures this morning to document another "first" for little G!

Checking out the snow flakes falling!

No thanks, now where's this SAND you're telling me about?!

Sunshine in February!

Today was another beautiful February day...with temperatures nearing the 70 degree mark!  Griffin and I took advantage of the sunshine and warm weather by spending the afternoon outside.  I couldn't think of a better way to spend the day with my little man!  We took a few toys and books outside to play with, but I think he was more interested in the green stuff he was sitting on :)  He enjoyed picking clover and even tried sneaking a little taste of mulch!

Later in the afternoon, Melissa and I decided to take Kaz and Griffin to the park for the very first time.  We walked down by the pond to visit the ducks, and the boys loved watching them waddle and swim around.  Then, we ventured over to the playground and let them try out the swings and the slide.  I think it's safe to say they had a blast...because Griffin was asleep in his car seat before we even made it home! :)

Griffin is Eight Months Old!

Griffin celebrated turning eight months old today outside in sunny, sixty degree weather :)   He enjoyed putting his bare feet in the grass and smelling some of the new flowers blooming in the yard.  Did I mention it's February?!  So much for the Groundhog's Day prediction...but who's complaining?

Our little man has been pretty busy this past month, with several new things to report :)  He now has not one, but TWO new chompers...and loves scrunching his nose to show them off!
Look at my teeth!

He's also mastered the art of crawling, and is now quite the speed demon!  Long gone are the days when I could sit him in the floor with a few toys and walk away.  Now, the minute that bottom hits the floor, he takes off like a racehorse breaking out of the starting gate (and follows me EVERYWHERE!)  The only thing I've found that can stop him in his tracks is an episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  As soon as that music starts playing, he's in it for the long haul!
I found you!

Another word has been added to the list this month, as well.  One Sunday afternoon during lunch, while the adults were in deep conversation, Griffin decided he needed his "Dada's" attention.  I quickly interrupted the convo and we all sat and listened as he belted "Dadadada!"  Needless to say, it made Josh's day :)

Last on the list, but definitely not least...Griffin can wave bye bye!  It's not a consistent thing yet, but usually when someone waves and says bye, he'll throw up his little arm and wave it up and down!

I can definitely say that this month has been one for the record books.  He's growing and changing a little bit every day.  He did have his very first sick spell a few weeks ago, and was down for the count from a nasty stomach bug.  Luckily, after a week of TLC, he started to perk up and quickly regained his appetite...and then some!  Now we can't keep him full!

We're looking forward to some warmer weather (hopefully in the near future), and have some exciting things planned for this summer.  I hate to wish the time away, though...it's already going by way too fast.

Happy Eight Months, Griffin! :)
