Pink or Blue?!
This past weekend, we traveled to Covington, KY to attend the Baby Wilmhoff gender reveal party hosted by our good friends, Amanda and Bubba. They are expecting their first baby in January, and invited family and friends to be there for the exciting moment when they found out what their little bundle of joy would be! Earlier in the week at Amanda's doctor visit, the gender ultrasound results were placed in an envelope and sealed so no one could see. They took the envelope to a bakery, where a cake would be made in either pink or blue according to be baby's gender. Once Amanda and Bubba cut the first slice, the baby's gender would be revealed!
We were so excited to find out if Griffin's newest playmate would be a boy or a girl, and felt very honored to be able to share such a special moment with our friends. The cake turned out to be blue (and yummy!), and Amanda and Bubba were ecstatic! I know one thing for sure...this little boy sure is blessed with some amazing parents! We love you guys!

Griffin is Two Months Old!
Where in the world did eight weeks go? Griffin is two months old today, and although he's usually full of smiles, today he's a little on the cranky side after his first round of shots at his two month check-up. Thankfully, he won't have to go through that again for another two months...because I think it hurt my feelings just as much as it did his! The doctor was very pleased with Griffin's growth and development, but he's still a little guy! He weighed in at 10lbs 14oz and measured 22 1/2 inches long.

Our Little UK Fan!
On Tuesday night, Josh and I drove to Louisville to see the UK Pros vs Dominican Republic National Team play in the YUM! Center. Of course, we couldn't let Griffin miss out on all the fun...so we brought him along to see his first basketball game. Watching former UK players Demarcus Cousins, John Wall, Josh Harrellson, Rajon Rondo, DeAndre Liggins, Nazr Mohammed, Eric Bledsoe, and Brandon Knight play together in a packed arena was amazing! We had great seats, and ended up being next to the Pros bench! Griffin seemed to enjoy being there, and sat up to watch the entire game!

Daddy's Little Caddy
This week, Griffin turned seven weeks old! We've had a big week, and we started it off with Griffin's first trip to the golf course on Sunday. He even got to wear his special shirt that I had made for Josh for Father's Day! It was a beautiful day, and we rode in the golf cart while Josh played 9 holes. One golfer asked Josh if Griffin would be his caddy one day... Josh responded with, "I'm hoping it's the other way around!" Let's just say Daddy has big dreams for this little guy!
We've also been getting lots of "tummy time" in, and Griffin is doing great holding his head up! He kicks and squirms and looks around, and although he's far from crawling (thank goodness!) we have fun playing in the floor and looking at new toys and books.
Since Mommy is going back to work soon, we spent some time at Granna and Grampy's house yesterday getting everyone prepared for the big change. Granna loves being outside and working in her yard, and Griffin tags along with her. He had fun playing outside and enjoying the cooler temperatures. Luckily for Granna, one of his favorite things to do is ride in his stroller. He stays alert and looks around at everything we pass. He's also starting to reach and kick at his toys, and loves the ones that make noise. Maybe all this action will help keep him awake more during the day so Mommy can get some sleep at night? We'll see how that goes.... :)

Catching Smiles!
Griffin turned six weeks old yesterday and is growing like a weed! With each day that passes, we notice that he is more attentive and tries to focus and follow things with his eyes. He's starting to "coo" and make little noises, and his expressions are priceless! He's beginning to build a personality and will let you know exactly how he feels...(I have no idea where he gets that!) It's so funny to watch him "find" things like his fingers and toes. Yesterday, he found his tongue and stuck it out at me all day long!
Of all the exciting new firsts, my favorite new thing is his smile. It's not just any smile, though....it's a great big, gummy grin from ear to ear! And even if it's a just little smirk while he's napping, it's just enough to let me know he's genuinely happy.
Something I never want to forget is the way it feels when he smiles back at me...it melts my heart every time. It's just another reason why I love being home with my baby...so I can spend all day catching smiles! :)
Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing.
