Blue/White Scrimmage

Yesterday, mommy, daddy, and I got all decked out in our UK gear to go watch the Blue/White Scrimmage at Rupp Arena.  We sat four rows off the floor and daddy was excited about our great seats.  Nobody asked me, but I thought we were a little too close...those guys are GIANTS!  Mommy stood me up so I could watch them run up and down the court, and the camera guy put me up on the big screen!  I'm not sure what all the fuss was about, I was just eating my fingers!

Everyone around us kept talking about some guy named John Wall who was sitting across from us on the other side of the court.  Apparently he's a pretty big deal...something like a star UK player who now plays for the Washington Wizards in the NBA.  Anyway, at halftime, mommy got this crazy idea to walk across the court and hand me over to the guy.  And would you believe that he took a big marker and wrote all over the back of my new shirt?!  Unbelievable!  Normally mommy gets mad when I get my new clothes dirty...but she and daddy acted like it was the greatest thing ever.  Strangers everywhere kept coming up to see my shirt, and some crazy girl even took my picture.  I don't know what the big deal was, but mommy says I'll thank her later!

Four Month Checkup

Griffin went to see Dr. Badger today for his four month checkup, and received a great report!  He put on a little show during his examination, talking and showing off all the new little things he could do.  Dr. Badger was very pleased with his growth and development, and encouraged us to introduce more cereal and veggies in the coming weeks.  He was all smiles until the nurse came in and gave him his second round of shots...and then it was all over!  He weighed in at 14 lbs 2 oz which is a little above 30th percentile.  He measured 25 in long, which is right at 50th percentile, and his head measured 43 cm which is in the 70th percentile.  Maybe that big head means we've got an honor student on our hands?!

Griffin is Four Months Old!

Our little man is four months old today!  This past month, we've experienced several fun new things, and worked on perfecting some of the things he's already attempted.  He's full of personality and growing like a weed, and I can't wait to see how he measures up at his four month check up on Tuesday!  He's doing great at sitting up, as long as he's got something to lean against.  He's also still reaching and grabbing everything in sight, and puts everything straight in his mouth.  He just recently found out how much fun his feet can be, and I think he'd try to eat his toes if he could!
When he gets excited, he loves to squeal...and thinks it's funny when mommy squeals back!  It's all fun and games until it happens in the middle of church one morning!  I have to hand it to the little man, he's been great about keeping quiet when he's supposed to, and we're keeping our fingers crossed that it continues :)  We've been working on rolling over some more, and finally caught one on video!
Griffin is "talking" up a storm, and we've been working on saying "mama"!  He's getting close, and although I know he doesn't quite associate the word with me yet, it still makes me smile when I hear a little bit of it every once in a while.  We're also working on making noises, and he's doing a great job repeating what he hears.  His favorite new noise is a motorboat....  he's such a boy!
One big milestone we've reached this month is his first taste of rice cereal!  We started to notice that he wasn't getting full on just milk alone, so we decided to give it a try.  It's a little messy, but he loves it...and he's doing great eating from a spoon.  I'm sure more yummy foods will come soon!

There have been so many fun "firsts" already this year, and we're looking forward to taking him Trick or Treating in a few days for his first Halloween!  We've got his costume and treat bag ready to go, and will post pictures of all the fun...see if you can guess "whooooo" he'll be!

Riding for a Cure!

Walking with Terri :)
This weekend, Griffin and I participated in our first 5K together at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Lexington.  This event hit very close to home since my dear friend and co-worker, Terri Jones, recently fought and won her battle with breast cancer.  To show our support, Griffin and I set a goal of raising $50.00 for our team, and thanks to our generous friends, we raised a total of $55.00.

When Saturday morning rolled around, we bundled up and headed out to downtown Lexington to join thousands of people in a sea of pink!  There were pink shirts, pink scarves, pink shoes, and even pink firetrucks!  Since it was so cold out, Griffin stayed bundled up in his stroller for the ride.  He did great, and made it through the entire 5K.  We passed several "little" walkers, and it made me smile to think that Griffin would be walking instead of riding with me next year!

Daddy's So Funny!

Lately, Josh and I have been spending most of our time making silly faces and noises as we try to get Griffin to laugh.  We love hearing him giggle at things...and this time, he was cracking up!

Pickin' Pumpkins with Miles!

Griffin got to spend the day with his big buddy, Miles!  Since it was so nice out, Miles' mommy, Erin, and I decided to take our little guys out to Evans Orchard.  Miles is a pro at picking out pumpkins, and he was so excited to help Griffin pick out his very first one!

After filling up on some yummy food (and an apple cider slush!), we snagged a wagon and headed down to the pumpkin patch.  We searched and searched for the perfect little pumpkins, and loaded up the wagon with our favorite ones.

On the way back up to the barn, Miles stopped at the playground to show Griffin how fast he could slide down the big slide.  Griffin was all smiles...and this time next year, he'll be playing on that playground, too!

After breaking a sweat on the slide, we stopped in the barn to buy some fudge and fried apple pies...my favorite!  Miles likes to pay for things on his own, now (with mommy's money, of course!) and he was so excited to spend the day with baby Griffin, that he bought his first pumpkins for him!

We had so much fun with Erin and Miles, and I can't wait to decorate Griffin's pumpkins!  We love you guys!

Pumpkins, Apple Cider, and Hay Rides, Oh My!

I  love the Fall and everything that comes along with it, and I am so excited to include Griffin in all of the Fall festivities this year!  We took our first trip to the pumpkin patch over the weekend and Griffin was amazed by some of the pumpkins that were as big as he was!  It was cold out, and since Griffin is a little small to be adding apple cider to his bottle, we made sure to bundle up in our cold weather gear!

Our church also held "Grace Fest" this weekend, with hay rides, a petting zoo, hot dog eating contest, and more.  It was fun visiting with friends that we don't see often, and Griffin experienced lots of "firsts"!  I can't wait to see what else is in store this season!
